New
media have been the most popular trend for the last few years. It is now
considered as part of everyone's life. Right
from the second you wake up till you go to bed after saying goodnight to your parents,
siblings or friends, you are surrounded in a world built just for you by the
media. With the advent of advanced technology, there has been a drastic shift
from the telegraph, and then the radio, newspapers, magazines and now to the
most widely used the internet.
So
what is new media? New media is a technology, internet, and any form of
communication such as social media and websites. Nowadays people use social
media to connect with people over the world. It’s been easier for people to
communicate with old friends, families who live far away. They can share the
moments, sending pictures and videos through social media. This has made long
distance between people become shorter.
Furthermore,
new media is accessible anytime and anywhere. It is considered as a news tool,
you can check the news as soon as it happens and not have to wait for the
morning newspaper every day. Twitter, Facebook, and online news serve in publishing
the news in the same minute or even the same second. You can also spread news
that happened around you and share it with friends and other users, while in
newspaper or television you cannot do so.
On
the other hand, new media is not always a reliable source to get news from,
because everyone can be posting wrong news just for fun and grabbing attention.
There is no publisher to check whether the information written is wrong or right
unlike newspaper, TV, or radio there is always an editor and publisher that
insures that information published to the audience is right.
Although
new media give a lot of convenience to users but people still misused the
benefit of it. Do you know nearly
half of the most repeated searches on the worldwide network of computers were “Pornography”.
So do you think that new media is a good thing and relevant for use in the
present day? Does it not affect the thinking of future generations?
Indeed, despite the many benefits of new media, it can still bring harms to us. Just like you said, I think new media does effect in the thinking of our future generations. But for me new media is still relevant in the present day and might still be relevant in the future as well. Yes, it affects our future generation’s minds but I would like to think of it as that is how the go through their own childhood. Let us compare our generation and the previous generation. Do we grow up exactly the same as how the previous generation did? As time goes by, there are things that remain the same but there are also things that are no longer being practiced today. That is what we called the evolution of technologies. If we were to stop these new generations from evolving and thinking differently from us, do you think that we can achieve future innovations and advancement of technologies? The world wouldn’t change if we were to implement it that way. I think it is fine if we let the future generations to live differently from what we used to as that was the same things as our ancestors did. They let us to think and live differently from them to create a better future. In order for us to develop, there are few things that needed to be sacrificed. Only by doing that, we will be able to taste the development of the future.
ReplyDeleteHuman nature will never satisfied with their own achievement. They will always try to create or invent something more in future. That is from the perspective of the inventor but for the public perspective their desire to satisfied their need sometimes give harm to themselves. The media should never be blame, in fact the human being should be blame because they are the one that exploit the media. They take advantage and misuse the facilities provided. If this attitude left unchecked, the future generation will be affected. We must appreciate whatever facilities that have been created.
ReplyDeleteNew media has become a major part in everyone's life. It is infact relevant and benificial for humankind. This one I don't have to think twice to answer.However, those who use it unconsiderably is the issue. Adult has become overly narcissist with the existense of social media. For example, posting a selfie image of yourself trillion times on Instagram. Yeah, its a form of self expression. And yes, I am aware of freedom of expression. And, okay it is your own space so you can post whatever and anytime you want and those who dislike may leave. BUT, they don't realize, the impact of their behavior. People get annoyed as a result you make frienemies. Yeap, friend+enemy, which is someone who you called friend, but they are most likely to unfiend you in social media but they can't, cause in reality, you are friends. Someone in love with themselves, that is what people are becoming now (not everyone). Be considerate. Do not post only your picture, unless you are Theo James or Selena Gomez. As for future usage, I am very much concern on my younger sister and future children. Internet contains EVERYTHING and it is possible for them to counter explicit materials unintentionally, like ads and virus. Can government do something with this? It is important eventhough it may be a light concern compared with Najib issue . I might end up being a strict and over protective mom. ��

Instead, I believe if new media will grow more in the future, it will be like a dependence tool for human beings. As what reviewed by New York Times, the year is 2023, or ’33, perhaps. You’re having a rough morning. The alarm clock is silent, the coffee maker cold. Your iPyjamas, which promised to manage your routine, have let you down again. Maybe they failed to recognize your fingerprints. The seers predicted some of these changes when they promised, back in 2013 or so, that digital technology would transform the world. Within a few decades, they promised, advances in information technology would give us better government, better health care, better media and better education. Globalization of the media business will advance, creating new markets. The old centers of media creation and consumption, the United States and Europe, will feel new competition from faster-growing regions: Asia, of course, but also Latin America, Africa and others. When that happens, media content, still dominated by Western notions of what constitutes news and entertainment, will have to adapt, too. Clearly, the media revolution could veer off in different directions. Despite digital convergence, it will be marked by diversity.

Nowadays, new media make our life easier. almost everything can be done by technology however it doesn’t mean no harms from it. of course new media will affect the thinking of future generation because they might not have childhood like us where some culture are no longer being practiced and that is normal. This is the fact that should we accept as the effect of technology evolution. In my opinion, I think new media is relevant to use in the present day. As we cannot deny today our generation are very depending on internet laptop and smartphone. For example we won’t do assignment if there is no internet connection, we won’t write on paper and prefer to use laptop, and mostly I could say that we can’t live without smartphone/ internet. People never satisfied with what has been done, the inventor will keep trying to create new technology. Same goes with us, we never satisfy with what we have today and what we know today. So in order to develop our self, we need to up to date by always try/ use new invention. And this will happen to future generation too.
ReplyDeleteIn my opinion, new media is a good thing and relevant for use in the present day. This is because we are now in modern technology era. With the emergence of internet, new media helps us in many ways. Indeed, we cannot live without this new media today. For sure it does affect the thinking of future generations. As we see nowadays, children and teenagers don't have the same childhood time and memory like us because they are more playing with their gadgets rather than have a great time with friends and neighbor. I can say that generation nowadays even don't know who are their neighbor because they're not socialize and interact face to face each other. They choose to be in home and playing with their smartphone. We cannot deny that our generation are too depending on technology and we never satisfied with what we have today. The new media cannot be blame but we have to self reflect that we are the ones who create and use the new media.

It indicates that the social network can stimulate the brain senses only by a small amount of information, and make the brain to increase demand for the stimulation, thus gradually produce dependent psychology. In addition, that video also mentioned the influence of social networks to the brain in multitasking, fantasy mobile phone vibration and the interaction, etc.
The emergence and the development of social network broke the regional communication disorders, expanded the people's horizons, and accelerate the speed of access to information, this is a kind of communication between mutiple people at the same time. Obviously，it is the most significant benefits of social networking.
If the nature of communication is not just the transmission of information, but the exchange of emotion and ideas, I think the development of the social network can be said to be weakened communication. Written communication on the Internet need rational thinking, but face to face will make more perceptual judgment. Therefore, social network is the subsidiary of face-to-face communication, we should give priority to with face to face of communication.
Of course, New media is good thing nowadays and in the future, it is soooo convenience. For the thing you mentioned in article' pornography', I think those issue can happened on websites on New media, the first thing we should think is not technology but humanity, is not technology causes the ' pornography' things but human, if those human have a good personality, if they consider about others, Wil those things happen? So, I think human should be responsible, responsible for the people who are using the network. Everyone in this world should take our responsibility. Then the context we use the new media may not that dirty.

ReplyDeletePornography in media sure a big issues for the next generation. children who get expossed to pornography will be affected their health and well-being.
ReplyDeleteIn Indonesia, the government has this program called "Internet Sehat" which focused on banning any sites contains pornography, gambling, cyberbullying, and cybercrime. With this program Indonesian government want to decrease the number of citizen who exposed to everything not good from internet especially pornography.
Parents also should keep their eyes on their children in using any new or mainstream media. Children is our nxt generation that still need to be teach about eveything. we can;t just leave them alone and be exposed on media without supervision
